Home-made naan

How can one make naan at home without an oven?

Bharathi, Rail Nilayam

I ONCE saw this in a friend's home but have never tried it by myself. Take a 15-litre oil tin, remove both the top and the bottom. Place a heavy tawa on a gas fire, sit the tin on top of it, so that the tawa is surrounded by the tin. Turn the gas onto a medium high, wait till the tin gets moderately hot and put the naans on to the sides of the tin, as if it were a tandoor. This is the best one can do at home, if one doesn't have the oven or the tandoor.
