The survivor

WHAT DO falling stars do when they find the going tough? They simply go back to their roots and try to re-invent themselves all over again.

Simran found that after she was paired with the senior heroes in Tamil, the younger ones just refused to act opposite her. So, she has gone back to Mumbai, her hometown and signed Lawrence D'Souza's next film "Wafaa" with Milind Soman. And after an 18-month sabbatical, Simran went back to the Telugu industry and is doing "Seethaiah" with Harikrishna. She was last seen in Balakrishna's "Seema Simham" more than a year back. Said Simran: "I am a very lucky person to have survived at the top for more than six years and worked with all leading south Indian stars."

Simran's crowning glory in Tamil films, according to her, will be "Kovilpatti Veeralakshmi" in which she plays a lower caste woman who turns a bandit after her sister is gang-raped by upper caste men in a village in southern Tamil Nadu.

Adds Simran: "It is one of my best roles for which I have taken great pains and has dubbed in my own voice for the first time."
