Driven by a cause


SHE HAS been actively involved in social work for over 40 years. As chairman of the Guild of Service (Central) for the past 12 years, she has been working for the cause of the mentally and physically challenged and the welfare of poor children.

Hence, Indira D. Kothari was honoured with the prestigious Sadguru Gnananda National Award from the Manavaseva Samavardhini for Excellence in Social Work. She was given the award in Mumbai by the Maharashtra Governor.

An octogenarian, Indira got involved in social work under the guidance of Clubwalla Jadhav, founder, Guild of Service.

Recently, the Guild of Service got an award from the Government of Tamil Nadu for being the best institution serving handicapped children.

Indira is also founder member of the Spastics Society of Tamil Nadu, besides being closely associated with Dakshinachitra and Gujarati Shree Mandal.
