HERE IS a place where you can enjoy an unhurried meal in an ambience that presents a harmonious fusion of art and nature.
Refreshing palms surround the tiled huts lit by terracotta lanterns and the tables laid under the starry sky. A Christmas tree brightens the open-air venue.
One could also choose the option of indoor dining. The interior dining area has vibrant paintings displayed on the walls and old carved wooden pillars greeting you at the entrance.
And once inside , the quiet environs here on a high traffic road present a pleasing contrast.
KEBAB `n' ROTI: The tandoor is happening here.
Located in Kavuri Hills, The Little Hut is in fact the first restaurant to open on the Hi-Tec City Road about three years ago.
"I wanted to design an eatery where one could enjoy a meal in a pleasing ethnic ambience ," says K. Sakunthala the proprietor of the place that reflects the artistic setting of the Shilparamam Crafts Village close by. Sakunthala also takes care of the kitchen where speciality chefs create the multi-cuisine offering. Check out the kebab platter prepared by Chef Raju. Tangdi kebab, Pahadi kebab, Chicken tikka, Chilly gobi, Crisp babycorn are some of the options to start with. The kebabs can be teamed up with Kulcha, Lacha paratha, Cheese naan, Kheema naan, Butter roti and other breads from the tandoor. "I found the concept of live counters in the US very appealing. And I decided to incorporate it here when I came back," she says about the barbecue counter which is popular here.
For the main course, the options are plenty, from the Chinese Egg soft noodles, Mandarin chicken and Mushroom Manchuria to the Indian Dum alu, Peas pulao, Zafrani murg and Paneer shahi korma. The place offers select speciality cuisine such as the spicy Vegetable Kolhapuri, a delicacy from Western India or the zesty Andhra fish curry. Choose from the Green salad, Onion raita, Cucumber salad and more salads to go with the main course. A wide option in soups is also available here such as the Chicken Cantonese soup, French onion soup and Chicken clear soup to choose from, just in case you want to begin the meal with one. If you have a sweet tooth the restaurant offers milk shakes, lassi and ice creams.
The restaurant is open for lunch (12 noon-3 p.m) and dinner (7 p.m.- 11 p.m) and also for breakfast (7.30 a.m.-11. 30 a.m.). You can check out exotic dosas for the breakfast such as Palak, Manchuria, Paneer, Onion and Rawa dosas. The restaurant is popular with the techies and people visiting Hi-Tech city and students of the neighbouring colleges. "We offer a 10 per cent discount for students," says Sakunthala. The restaurant also offers home delivery and catering.
