American restaurant, desi food


EVER FELT like trying out an Indian dish at a quintessential American chain restaurant? Your wish can now be fulfilled as TGI Friday, a considerable hit among those who enjoy the experience of casual dining, now serves dishes like Veggie Kathi Wraps, Brinjal and Cottage Cheese Steak and Kathi Wraps.

The new menu boasts of Kathi Wraps with strips of smoked chicken breasts, a waffle pancake loaded with green chillis and onion juliennes. It is served with mint sauce and sambal oeleck and has been priced at Rs. 200. For the more adventurous sorts, there is Chicken Margarita Fajitas, which contains chicken marinated in Margarita sauce, prepared by the chefs of TGIF, grilled and served over a bed of grilled onions and bell pepper. Priced at Rs.250, it is accompanied with Chef's Special Rice, Colby cheese, sour cream, Pico de gallo and flour tortillas.

Another lip smacking dish, but for those who can withstand spicy stuff, is Shrimp Trouble, where you taste succulent shrimps and the gravy. It can be eaten with steaming rice. This dish is priced at Rs. 250.

However, the dish of the day is probably Chicken Drums. Priced at Rs. 200, it is a full meal as three big pieces of chicken legs are served with an innovative spicy mushroom sauce accompanied with steamed rice and tossed salad. There can be an accompaniment of Long Island tea, priced at Rs. 295.

It is a concoction of vodka, white rum and Cointreau liquor. One can have this drink without spending a single penny if you order Glazed Ribs, in which chicken ribs are served with onion rings, a pineapple wedge and some extra Jack Daniel's sauce. If you order half of it, then it is priced at Rs. 350 and if you order the complete dish then you have to spend Rs. 530.

For those with a sweet tooth, Classic Chocolate Malt Cake is simply the icing on the cake - three layers of moist chocolate fudge cake with a creamy chocolate malt icing. It is priced at Rs. 175 and add another Rs. 24 if you want with a scoop of ice cream.

Also, the Chocolate Milk Shake, served in a large glass, contains fresh milk blended with three big scoops of rich mint chocolate chip.
