It is Usha again

HER SPIRIT that swelled India's pride remains intact. The Nation's sprint queen P.T. Usha was in Bangalore recently as a coach watching her wards perform in the National School Games Athletic Championship.

Usha was often lost amidst autograph hunters and eager junior athletes hoping to emulate her one day.

Usha was often a bundle of nerves as her trainees from the P.T. Usha School of Athletics based in the North Kerala town of Quilandy, geared up for their sprints. And the acme proved to be U. Jasseena's gold in the girls under-14 400-metre, which left Usha wiping away tears of joy.

Bangalore has a special place in her heart. "I ran my first under-12 timing here. It is one of my lucky tracks," she said.

And, hopefully, another Usha will soon steam ahead on the Sree Kanteerava Stadium tracks.
