Fair show
IT WAS a fair in which only women doing business from home took part in an effort to make their leisure time purposeful.
"This is an out and out non-profit fair and the revenue earned through this fair will be spent for the construction of a hygiene block at the panchayat school at Uranganpatti" says Ashraf Tayub of Madurai City Round Table No. 99.
The three-day Fun-n-Food fair was held from January 24 at the MADITISSIA Hall, organised by the Madurai City Ladies Circle No. 60.
"Right from the traditional food of dosas and idlies to computer accessories everything is available all under one roof. Except for a few things, all others are home-made", he says.
. Last year, the fair generated a revenue of Rs. 15,000 and this year we expect to get Rs 30000.
Using the two-year revenue, we will spend the money for the development of the panchayat school", says Mr Ashraf.
"I came here along with my family and it took nearly three to four hours for us to complete the visit to the fair. This is really a good attempt and also a good pastime for the Temple City residents", says Lalitha a visitor.
Tony, a businessman, views the fair as a platform for women who do business from home and says, " it is a lovely fair worth visiting with your family".
