Jewel expo

GLITTER AND Everything else one would associate with jewels were there in abundance at the jewellery expo organised recently in the city.

But, it was the moderately priced gift items that attracted much attention.

Apart from jewellery, Swiss gold plated items (starting from Rs. 200), two-gram gold creations, precious stones, gems and studs were displayed.

"Two-gram gold items and Swiss gold plated items were in good demand," said D. Saravanan of Zak Trade Fairs and Exhibitions, organisers of the expo.

Though the price of the yellow metal is on the rise, the fair managed to draw in the crowds.

The organisers had brought in manufacturers of jewels to participate in the expo.

Saravanan adds: "The spurt in gold prices had some effect on buying. But, as we had a lot of variety, we were able to attract people."

Diamond and platinum jewellery and gems and pearls were also showcased.
