Hot n' spicy

The newly-opened Seema's at Panjagutta offers traditional fares for the piquant palate, straight from Rayalseema and Konaseema.



FIERY FARE: Waiting to savour the piquant curries and rice.

CHOMP AND munch the sumptuous savouries packaged straight from the `seema's' - Rayalaseema and Konaseema - any time of the day now. Brought to you by Seema's, the newly opened eatery at Topaz building in Panjagutta that boasts to be the only one-of-its-kind restaurant to offer the unique fare. Traditionally prepared by culinary specialists from the `seema' regions, the cuisine is meant for the piquant palate whose tolerance levels are relatively higher. The aroma of the curried delicacies will make anybody's mouth water as much as the mouth will crave for the same, after a taste of the tantalising dishes.

Guntur idly. The name sounds intimidating. But a taste of it once, will make anyone an addict of the karampodi idly overloaded with pure ghee. Among the other mouth-watering `seema' fare, the delectable ones are jonna roti with guthi vankaya koora and kodi guddu endu chapa or royyalu vepudu, thala koora, natu kodi pulusu and mamidikaya mutton with ragi sangati or jeera bhat/pulao. Thanks to the explosive gunpowder, the stuff is hot yet irresistible. "Another speciality of Seema's is that we are the first restaurant in the twin cities to serve non-vegetarian tiffins," says restaurant owner Subba Reddy.

One can select a combination of idly, dosa or poori with paya (Rs 35), chicken pulusu (Rs 40), mutton pulusu (Rs 45) or thala koora (Rs 35).

"We even provide free home delivery within a radius of three kilometres from our place," adds Reddy.



TRADITIONAL TREAT: The restaurant serves food from the `seema' regions

A wide range of fish items is also available for aficionados. One can take a pick from cheruvu chapa pulusu, bommidaila pulusu, pulasala pulusu, koramenu vepudu, sora chapa pidupu and chapa chinthakaya. Among traditional Andhra curries are guthi vankaya koora, mulakkaya jeedipappu koora, bangaladumpa, vepudu and panasapattu koora. Each is a taste in itself, as distinct as the other.

In the list of the restaurant's speciality items are the steamed dosa (a traditional South Indian dosa steam cooked in Japanese style without any oil), palak paneer dosa, chana masala dosa, egg dosa, and a special breakfast of idly, vada, plain dosa and coffee or tea, which comes for Rs. 25. A typical South Indian vegetarian thali comes for Rs. 40, while a non-veg thali is pegged slightly higher at Rs. 70.

"Our aim is to serve traditional kitchen curries and other items typical to the `seema' region at affordable prices to our customers, " adds owner Reddy.
