Laurels for real-life stories

Sourabh Narang won the best director trophy at the second Hero Honda Indian Television Awards, held on November 30, at the Renaissance Hotel, Powai. It has been a great year for this young director, as he had already won a RAPA award (best director) and a first runner-up award at the Asian Television Awards (Singapore), earlier this year.

The current award is for his work in `Haqeeqat', a chronicle of real-life Indian stories, produced by Anuradha Prasad of BAG films, and presented by Mahesh Bhatt.

"The award is not only an acknowledgment of my efforts and hard work, but also a vindication that something `different and bold' can work in today's television scenario," said Sourabh, in an interview, recently. He added, "I dedicate this award to all the people whose real-life stories I have directed — and to those victims whose `voice' this show has become."
