An evening in Avadh

Good food, ghazals, shatranj (chess) and a lackadaisical life style was the essence of the nawabs of Avadh. Hotel Green Park had created such an ambience with rich Avadhi cuisine to savour in the recently concluded `Shaam-e-Awadh' food festival.

Different variety of shorbas (soups) was served along with murgh shikampuri, kakori kebab, dum phukt biryani, lauki mussalam and many other dishes in the main course.

The ambience was set with the typical nawabi Gadi arrangement that was complete with the enchanting live ghazals that reminded one of the Wajid Ali Shah era.

"To give patrons a ethnic taste of Avadhi cuisine, we had brought all the spices from Lucknow," said D.A. Babu Prasad, the sous chef of the hotel.
