STHITHI

THE LIFE of Secretariat employees follow a pattern that Thiruvanthapuramites are familiar with. Sak Films' Sthithi tells the tale of a couple employed in the Secretariat. It is Unni Menon's debut movie in which he plays the lead. Bengali actress and Odissi dancer, Nandini is his leading lady. Producer Abdul Khader says it is a low budget movie in which Unni Menon has a fine opportunity to show his acting prowess as well as his proven singing talent. There are two good songs in it. The lyrics are by Prabha Varma. Sujatha's is the female voice.

It was shot after rehearsals, a practice long forgotten in the film industry. Besides cutting costs, it is aimed at perfection too. The woes of State Government employees and the havoc that strikes wreak are part of the film. New faces have been cast, apart from those in the theatre scene. Some of the artistes are C. K. Basu, Vellayambalam Gopalakrishnan, Mallika Sukumaran, Sreelatha, Remya Nambeesan, Vinu Abraham, Kollam Devarajan, Achuyth, Anand, Ratna Purushothaman, Jayaraj Warrier, Ajayan. Sarat, whose first movie won laurels at the national level, directs Sthithi. M. J. Radhakrishnan wields the camera. Beena is the editor and artdirection is by Gokuldas.
