Fast food real fast...

Kents Fast Food at Defence Colony market in South Delhi provides fast food the American way. Want to have a bite?

KENTS FAST Food at the bustling Defence Colony market in South Delhi is a popular haunt for those who want to catch a bite of hamburgers and guzzle Coca-Cola. Not that it doesn't specialise in other delicacies like succulent Seekh Kababs. It has come to be associated with the young and yuppie, who want food on their table instantly and don't have any compunction in eating food high on cholesterol. Also couples who between munching fast food want to indulge in conversation.

This fast food restaurant started off with a bang in the mid-`80s when Delhiites had just acquired a taste for American junk food. Due to its central location, it became a popular haunt. Called Kents Corner initially even the local Americans felt that the burgers were as nicely done, with all the ingredients thrown in good measure, as back home. Now rechristened, eight outlets have been opened up. This September it opened an outlet in East Patel Nagar.

Here emphasis is laid on not only maintaining the standard of cooking but also hygiene - for which a food safety checklist is used on a daily basis to validate that safety standards and procedures are in place. In addition the restaurant is inspected for safety compliance.

It had originally started as a hamburger joint but now has every conceivable item on its menu list.

Hot Chocolate Fudge and Ice Cream Sundaes are most sought after. The single Sundaes are available in pineapple, strawberry and butterscotch flavours. It has also added the most preferred Indian beverages like Kesar Badam milk, Jeera Lassi and Ice Lemon Masala. These drinks can be had with every type of food.

One goes in for ham cheese sandwich and salami cheese sandwich.

They come along with chips and tomato sauce. The bread is soft and the ham and salami taste good although the taste of cheese dominates.

For plain one has to dish out Rs. 36 for four pieces and for grilled you get two pieces for Rs. 48. Chicken Combo is priced at Rs. 82 but along with the delicious burger one gets French Fries and regular Pepsi.

The chicken slice has been tastefully done and there is a slice of Kraft and salad mixed with mayonnaise sauce. Luckily the burger is neither spicy nor oily.
