'Chitthi' still popular
THE REPORTED rise of Vijay TV to the status of No. 2 channel has been challenged by Sun TV, with information that in the afternoon slot of 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., KTV runs only film songs as fillers. They also quote fresh TAM figures from the period September 15 to 21 to show that their rerun of `Chitthi', which began on September 16 has drawn a substantial number of viewers in the prime time slot of 8 p.m.
This is to the detriment of `Kavyanjali', the number one prime time serial of Vijay. Looks like the channel rivalry is keeping rival networks on their toes, indirectly benefiting viewers and advertisers with offerings on Southern channels showing more versatility than their North Indian counterparts.
Hot Tips:
-- `The Legend of Bhagat Singh' is to be telecast on Zee TV on October 10. `Humraaz', starring Amisha Patel, Bobby Deol and Akshaye Khanna, will be telecast on Pctober 17.
-- `Ramayan' is on Cartoon Network this October, while late night science fiction viewing (after 10-30 p.m.) on Hallmark brings thrills and chills to sci-fi aficionados.
