B.V. Harshavardhan, a student of Std. VII in Kendriya Vidyalaya, Steel Plant has been awarded the second prize for his painting `Peace is the key for future environment' at the 11th International Childrens Painting Competition on Environment 2002. The competition was organised by the Foundation for Global Peace and Environment (FGPE) and co-organised by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) at Tokyo in July this year.

In all, 7,104 entries were received from 56 countries and 332 were selected for prizes. Harshavardhan is the only participant from India who has been awarded the second prize.
