Seeing tomorrow today
If it is in the stars, it is on your face! If you are destined to get something, your hair will tell! Want to know moreabout predicting the future? Read on as J.B. Malik, a self-styled astrologer, tells you what life has in store for you...
J.B. Malik... using para-science for astrology.
HE WANTS you to believe that even before the rendezvous he could visualise not only your personality but also foretell many other aspects of your life. On the national scene he says the predictable: "The new President, A.P.J.Abdul Kalam will function independently without acquiescing to the diktats of the NDA dispensation." There is more: "Strife-torn Gujarat will not go to the hustings before December and the ruling conglomeration at the Centre won't succeed in completing its tenure." He isn't sure whether the Italian-born Congress president, Sonia Gandhi will come out with flying colour in breaking the jinx of becoming the first Indian of foreign origin to become the Prime Minister. But J.B. Malik is his own man, who comes up with his predictions faster than you can ask your questions. A garrulous man who boasts that he can tell about a person's physiognomy and behavioural aspects by merely looking at moustaches, observing colloquialism in the language and style of striding, his curriculum vitae says that he is a recognised astrologer and para-scientist.
He wanted to join the civil services in 1989 but felt he wasn't cut out for it as "I've a different faculty of mind."
According to him, there are lots of characteristics like condition of one's hair, how one eats, the behavioural pattern, how words flow from mouth, structure of eyes, haunches and size of chest which determine a person's habits, likes and dislikes.
Among Malik's clients are high-profile politicians, bureaucrats and businessmen.
He doesn't want to reveal identities of those in the corridors of powers barring some. And divulging names of IAS officers is next to impossible. He says, "I had a luncheon meeting with BJP's top politician in U.P. Rajnath Singh some time back. I told Singh that he will become Chief Minister in three months' time which he actually did."
When one queries him what exactly is para-science, Malik says, "Para-science can only be practiced by someone who has had a good karma. I am able to cure people of their ailments."
Malik says he is not able to make much money out of his profession as he leaves it to his client's discretion on deciding how much amount he is prepared to cough up for his consultative fees. One may not necessarily fall for his predictions, but he does provide interesting company, and a few useful insights.
