IT IS no surprise that in a laidback city like Hyderabad, people's lifestyles should revolve mostly around food, fashion and films. And all the three in their totality are said to be the benchmarks of a Hyderabadi's sense of belonging to the city.

When it comes to food, which is foremost amongst the three Fs, people generally go ga ga. Thus, the ever-burgeoning number of restaurants and eat outs, each with its exclusive clientele, stands self-explained.

If you speak of restaurants and eateries, can The Hub be far behind? One of the first to, perhaps start the food culture - - in the twin cities, the modestly swank eatery boasts of a cuisine, that will suit the palate of a continental gourmet or a Chettinad connoisseur or a Szechwan freak. The multi-cuisine joint even has enough up its sleeve to appease the sweet tooth of a child; largely it has mouth-watering fare for all and sundry.

Situated strategically in the vicinity of Panjagutta crossroads, The Hub has seen its popularity swell day by day, since its inception in 1999. "The ambience, quality of food and variety of items, are the pivotal factors for the mounting popularity of the place," attributes restaurant in-charge and food and beverage manager Kenneth Lee.


PERFECT PRESENTATION: Tastes as good as it looks.

"There have been days when we have done business up to Rs 75,000 a day, which is an enormous volume in itself," he adds. With a capacity of 125 people at a time, The Hub, which has a subtle mix of official yet comfy ambience, remains a perennial favourite amongst corporates for their in-house parties.

Otherwise, dimly lit with traditional Coastal art donning the ceiling; plush interiors with the right amount of light - accentuation on life-size portraits mounted on the walls, snug sofas and hospitable attenders characterise the restaurant.

One can start with a Chicken Cantonese Soup and build up with a mouthful of Kandhari Kebab against the backdrop of Bach's magic or Dolly Parton's soulful renditions. For those who want to get a taste of Andhra, follow it up with a delectable luncheon of Baby Corn and Capsicum fried rice or Kashmiri Naan with Methi Chaman and Bommidaila Pulusu. Ask for a helping of either Ulavacharu chicken, Gongura chicken or Chinachiguru Mutton.

For connoisseurs of spice, tantalise your taste buds with a delightful helping of Chettinad chicken and Lal Mirchi ka Machhi or Aachar Gosht. Burp! Quite a mouthful or stomachful, rather, isn't it? But that's not all; an Andhra meal is incomplete without the fabled Kubani ka Meetha or the luscious Gulab Jamun.


DELICIOUS BITE: Quite a mouthful.

Game for a sundae, now! For once, forget the calories and the tyres, indulge, pamper and treat yourself with a Lichee sundae or with the umpteen varieties available in the a la carte menu.
