Creating a fashion statement

Curtains have come down on the Lakme India Fashion Week, which showcased designer wear and accessories. Lakme also unveiled its Think Brilliance - a fashion statement, which will be reflected in the cosmetics to be launched shortly.

THE LAKME India Fashion Week concluded after a week of hype and hoopla. It saw the showcasing of various couture lines by the top names in the trade besides other accessories as well.

In this context, Lakme came out with three expressions `Pure Brilliance', `Electric Brilliance' and `Sensual Brilliance' as its fashion statement for this year - `Think Brilliance'.

This was presented by three designers chosen by Lakme this year namely, Suneet Varma, Rajesh Pratap and Monisha Jaising.

"Each of these expressions explores a distinct aspect of a woman's attitude and self expression.

These will be cascaded through a line of exciting `top-of-the-line' cosmetic products in conjunction with Intercos Italia, world's leading cosmetic manufacturer.

These will be launched in September this year," said Anil Chopra, Business Head, Lakme Lever.

Pure Brilliance by Rajesh Pratap finds expression in ultra reflective shades of evanescent lilacs, created from mirror-like flash pearls for that ultimate frost effect. Electric Brilliance will be reflected in unique dual reflecting shades of fuchsia and orange to reflect tones like a prism.

Suneet Varma's Sensual Brilliance can be seen in intense shades, created from russet, gold and ruby coloured pearls to provide instant, lush colour.

To sum up Think Brilliance is not just a fashion statement but also an expression of life in its brightest shades.

It's the spirit of confidence, aspirations and dreams and more than anything else a free and unconditional expression of the optimism within.

The LIFW also saw a number of workshops. Lakme's Brilliance workshops featured experts in beauty interacting with consumers in areas of self-enhancement as well as creating a holistic beauty experience.

Sunsilk organised activities like hair styling, celebrity hair make-overs, workshops and a hair fashion show titled Sunsilk Styles of the Silver Screen.

The hair experts Samantha Kochhar, Jawed Habib and international celebrity hairstylist Joseph `Neeko' Abriol made their presence felt with magic make-overs with hair.

All the top models sported hairdos of the silver screen from the Sixties. At the grand finale Neeko presented his futuristic look.

The spotlight will now shift to the products - the couture lines acquired by the buyers, which will usher in the festival season this year and the cosmetic items.

All those who missed this style spectacle have to perhaps wait till next year when the curtains will lift to unfold another extravaganza.
