North-West Frontier calling
FROM THE rugged lands of the northwest comes the exotic food fare, right here in the city at Casino Hotel's ongoing Peshawari food festival.
"It is an attempt to showcase the quality and the taste of Casino's food" and "to be in tune with the festive happenings around", says the hotel's General Manager Mr Premnath. He further says that the ethnic food series at the hotel has featured cuisines like the Dakshin, Tamil Nadu food specialities like Military Velu's Chettinad, Andhra, Awadhi and Dum Phukt cuisines. With the onset of the Onam season and its emphasis on traditional cuisine, Mr.Premnath says that it was a good idea to have a North Indian festival.
From the North West Frontier Province comes the famed Peshwari cuisine, one of the legacies of undivided India.
Casino's super chef Asif Ali and his team have conjured up the most exotic fare in the form of `Balti Tandoori Grill', `Mushroom Bhajee', `Kabab Puri Roll', `Lamb and Spinach Balti', `Quabuli Pilau', `Peshawari Naan', and other delicacies.
To set the mood there is live music in the form of ghazals by Junior Mahmood, as well as recorded music. The festival is on till August 15 .
