The star show at Malaysia
IF THE MTC ran empty buses on August 4, it was because most people in Chennai were glued to Sun TV's coverage of the `Star Nite' at Malaysia. Amid strobe lights, sound effects, coloured smoke and confetti, the South Indian stars danced, sang and acted to entertain the Malaysian audience. While the event was certainly mind-boggling in terms of bringing together everybody who is anybody in the Tamil film industry, the happenings both on and off stage were enough to tickle the public imagination.
Abbas sparkled and poked fun at everybody with much success, Prashanth was hyped for having drawn similar crowds at a solo show in the past (a likely story), the Prabhu- Kushboo dance duet happened, and everything went on as promised.
What the organisers had possibly not bargained for were the other `happenings', like Manorama's son Bhoopathy picking a fight with Rajnikanth on the flight to Malaysia, or Simran flinging a bag at Kamal for refusing to intervene in a payment hassle with a producer for her. What's life if it isn't lively?
