Walk in the park

PROMENADE, THE round-the-clock coffee shop, at Aditya Park Inn in Ameerpet (6788888) offers a five-star experience without the starchiness or the rates and is just right for the purse-watching gourmet.

"The concept behind Promenade is to walk into an informal dining experience," says food and beverage manager Manas Banerjee.

While the breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet are fairly exhaustive - you get a choice of soup, salads, desserts and vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes for Rs 175 (lunch) and Rs 211 (dinner) - the a la carte menu holds a host of surprises.

Starting with the starters, Dragon Spring Rolls (choice of chicken or vegetable rolls served with chilli coriander sauce) and Orange Chicken Salad (a Thai speciality of char-grilled chicken dices with cucumber and cashew nuts tossed with sweet and spicy orange dressing) should be checked out.

Soups that ask to be tasted are Tom Kha Kai (a Thai chicken and coconut soup flavoured with galangal - that's blue ginger and lemon grass).Jinga Peshawri (Rs. 225) is a hot favourite with the ajwain lending a distinctive flavour to the tender prawns.


WIDE CHOICE: At the buffet lunch.

Vegetarians need not fret as there is the Lagan ke Kebab, a combination of minced vegetable and lentils flavoured with potli spices cooked on a lagan (a seasoned plate that lends a delicate flavour to the dish) to try out. For the main course you could try out Cajun Pomfret, a Greek speciality with fillets of pomfret grilled with Creole herbs and chillies served with black grape sauce or Chicken Zuricchoise (chicken and vegetable stew served with rice.)

By the way, if you are total desi fan then there is Andhra chicken/mutton which is really, really spicy. Vegetarians should check Ajwaini Dhingri Gobi (button mushrooms and cauliflower in ajwain flavoured tomato masala) and the Five Spiced Potatoes where the five spices are cinnamon, cloves, star aniseed, fennel and fenugreek.

And the sweet side story - check out Crispy Honey Noodles with vanilla ice cream, Orange Caramel Custard or the Bull's Eye which is a mocha cake with the centre scooped out and filled with a dollop of ice cream.

At the coffee shop you could indulge in the foot-longs, sandwiches and round off with a delicious ice-cream soda.

So if it is a nibble you crave at midnight or a regular sit down meal, casual or formal, Indian or conti, the place you could indulge in is on the `P' floor at Aditya Park Inn.<167,0m,1>
