Winning looks

He is the finalist for the Lee Model Hunt from the twin cities who will be walking the ramp for the title on July 19.


WALK THE RAMP: Praveen Agarwal is all set.

HE IS confidence personified and definitely has the arresting looks. He is Praveen Agarwal, the representative from the twin cities to walk into the finals of the Lee Model Hunt to be held at Bangalore on July 19. For the contest, 20 boys and girls selected from Mumbai, Pune, Goa, Comibatore, Hyderabad, Delhi, Bangalore and Jaipur would undergo a professional training in modelling, starting July 16, by none other that the fashion guru Prasad Bidapa before they hit the ramp. As for the judges young celebrities, photographers and models from the fashion world would choose the first ever Indian face of Lee-the brand by which most of the 15-24 year-olds swear for its quality, fabric fit and design if not wearing one of the jeans as a second skin.

Thus for the contest, entry into the first stage began on March 15 with the contestant purchasing a pair of jeans. "At the second level we looked at the overall model credentials -- the height, weight ratio, looks etc. Besides we had asked contestants to send in close up photographs as well as a full-length profile wearing the Lee jeans. At the final stage of screening we looked for finer details such as the ability of the `face' to carry on the Lee statement - a face that would represent the Lee brand personality of youth, self confidence and fashion forwardness," observes Suparna Mitra-Business Head, Lee, India.

Of the 80 entries from the twin cities, it was Praveen who made it to the finals. He had incidentally seen the advertisement in the newspaper, calling contestants for the Lee Model Hunt and sent his pictures. And the rest is history. "It feels great but will feel greater when I win the contest," he says. Currently doing his Advertising through correspondence from Symbiosis, Pune, he is a product of Badruka where he did his B Com, but he did his first year graduation from Xaviers Calcutta; thus the cosmopolitan winning attitude that he has garnered with a cross-cultural experience.

"If you are striving to be No1, you need confidence, and need to take care of the mental and spiritual self apart from the physical aspect," he says. He has already been into the modelling with some top brands. "Lee stands for the hardworking and mentally strong youth of today and that would be reflected in the brand ambassador selected for the contest," he adds. His winning attitude will surely take him places as city at the moment joins hands in congratulating him for walking into the contest and wishes him good luck for the finale.
