IN AN era where super markets are mainstream more so because of the availability of the entire merchandise under a single roof, a store that stocks international glassware, cosmetics, home appliances and lingerie, is a welcome shopping avenue.

Located in the White House building, Alfa, the two-storey opulent store has all-imported Swiss chocolate, English cigarettes, French pens and more.

"We had seen a similar store in Mumbai. This type of multi-store is unique for Hyderabad and thus we are trying it out," says Pavan Kedia at Alfa-The Luxury Store.

Tall blue beer glasses apart, from sets of plain serving glasses from Pyrex, Pasabahce, decorative flowers in coloured glass and microwave bowls from Arcuisine are some of the good buys in glass.

While jars, figurines and vases from Korea and the gold plated tea sets in Japanese porcelain comprise the colourful assortment for the table.

The cheerful salt and pepper holders coming for Rs 125 are ideal to go as a bright breakfast table accessory.


COOL CRYSTALS: A collection of crystalware.

While at the topic, the tinned salmon, tuna, sardines, turkey luncheon meat and sausages line up at the canned imports.
