Aesthetic touch to attire

Several designers and boutiques are presenting a range of apparel and home furnishing at Vimonisha from today.

IT'S TIME to celebrate spring by donning the colours and textures of the season and giving homes a new look.

Vimonisha Gallery on 12, Khader Nawaz Khan Road, unveils its spring line from today till June 23. The collection boasts of many firsts — Rui Boutique from Mumbai and Bangalore will present contemporary and classic styles for the first time in Chennai.

On display will be short kurtas, apart from exclusive suits with intricate embroidery that is Rui's hallmark.

The fabrics include spun cottons, screen-printed crepes and silks in many hues.

Also being showcased in Chennai for the first time is designer VidyaSagar's Mantra Collection of saris... silks and cottons that reflect traditional values and contemporary styling.

Each sari — be it cotton, tussar or pure silk, has a design element that is unique to it. Kalamkari, kundan, aari, gota, applique, mirrorwork, daabha kaam, zardosi, zari beads, crystals, sequins... there is handwork of all descriptions.

Cool cotton suits in ethnic designs from Etthno's and unstitched cotton suits, and traditional saris from K.K. Creations, Bangalore add to the variety.

Delhi-based designer Malavika has put together exclusive suits, colourful dupattas and saris, the accent being on use of natural fibres.

Intricately styled kota and chanderi cottons, silks and tussars are sure to make elegant statements. The focus is on environment-friendly material.

To give homes a facelift, Chennai-based Amara offers a variety of furnishing and linen. Hamson Handicrafts specialises in attractively painted terracotta pottery and jars.

Also available are gift articles such as Ganeshas and antiques.
