Chinese delights

TWO-MINUTE cooking, nutritious food, chop sticks and woks... yes, the Shanghai Club of Chola Sheraton (on 10, Cathedral Road, ph: 8110101) is having a Chinese food festival where the dishes are just `Smoked and Steamed.' Not less than nine ingredients go into the process of smoking the meats. Check out "Chongqing Lazi Ji" or simply the chilli smoked chicken or "Zui Xia" (drunken prawns) "Xiaocong Ban Tofu" (Chines bean curd with spring onions). To get the real taste of Szechwan try the "Yang Shi Xun Yang Tai" (smoked lamb with Chef's special chilli sauce) or "Zhangcha Ya" (tea smoked duck).

The fest is on till June 28.

Meanwhile, Chola's Café Mercara celebrates the delicious mango. On offer are mangoes in never-before-heard styles — chilled, grilled, saucy, baked, caked. For more, prawn and mango brochette served with Oriental sauce, chicken glazed with brandy sauce and mango coulis served with bell pepper. If you want it baked, try lamb leg roulade with mango and prunes. The French lady burger has chicken served with a crown of mango slice. Well, savour mangoes in myriad avatars till June 23.
