`Pasand' is the new restaurant in town that has some unique cooking concepts up its sleeve.


ALL SET: It happens before your eyes

IMAGINE THIS. You visit a restaurant and order your favourite Kashmiri Pulav and Chicken Butter Masala. As you recline in the snug sofa, the cook appears with all his cooking accessories and prepares the food in your presence with you actually having to get a glimpse of the quantity of oil used and the ingredients as well as the knowledge of the recipe.

Well, you need not imagine any more! The latest addition to Hyderabad's flurry of restaurants and eat-outs, `Pasand - the food park', promises to redefine the way food is served in the twin city eateries.

Cheer up, food aficionados! Now, you need not worry about your calories, nor should the maintenance of hygiene in restaurants be of concern for you.

For here comes the first-of-its-kind joint, promising exquisite South Indian fare up-the-sleeves of NRI Hanuman Alla, where you can actually customise the amount of oil or spices used and see the food being cooked just beside you. Everything will happen before your eyes.

After all, Hyderabad is not for nothing nomenclatured as a "happening city".

Proclaimed as a gastronome's delight, the first Pasand outlet was opened on Thursday in the Jubilee Hills area (Krishna Nagar Market) amidst a cognoscenti of film-stars, bureaucrats and police officials.

"Actually we have plans to start a chain of restaurants, evenly distributed, in the twin cities under the same name so that different people staying in and around the city can have a taste of our exquisite fare by not having to travel far. The idea is to maintain consistency in the taste all over and operate in the likes of American giants, such as, McDonald's, Burger King, Jack in the Box, K.F.C et al," says Pasand managing director Alla. Alla, who has a certificate in professional food handling from the America Food Department, has plans to invest about one million USD towards opening ten such outlets in Hyderabad to cater to the entire spectrum of society.

The present fare is entirely vegetarian, although plans to include non-vegetarian items on the menu are also in the pipeline.

"We have already conducted several feasibility studies and found out that in places like Himayatnagar, there is a requirement for non-vegetarian food as most of the existing eateries served typical green food," quips in Alla.

He informed that a non-veg Pasand - - food park - - would come up soon in the area.


PARK HERE: Pasand is the latest in the long line of food joints.

Claiming that the difference of Pasand among the rest of eating joints in town lay in its economy, hygiene and taste, Alla says, "to ensure the stringent measures of hygiene is our first motto.

Presently, it would operate from the kitchen, which would have mirrors fitted so that people can actually see the hygienic way in which the food is prepared.

But very shortly, it could as well start operating on the likes of the world-famous Aso restaurant of Japan, where the food is actually cooked just before you after you place your order,'' he informs.

Regarding the economy of the items, the managing director says, "While most of the so-called plush and up-scale restaurants operating in the city charge nearly Rs. 100, for a good meal, we have priced it as low and reasonable as just one fourth of that to make it affordable for everybody. And the taste would be undeniably better than anywhere else."

The decoration is very minimal inside the restaurant although the upholstery seems to be quite expensive. "This makes the place appear very spacious and airy," Alla points out.

Whether Pasand actually catches up with the Hyderabadis to become their `manpasand', only time will tell.For further details contact `Pasand' at 3547933.
