MAINE DIL TUJHKO DIYA

T-Series

Rs 50

THIS CASSETTE is both a delight and a despair. First the good part. It is uniformly good with music director Daboo Malik proving that he has made rapid progress after a belated start. Most of the nine songs are the kind you won't mind listening to at least once. And the opening track is a sure winner. It is soothing in its own way. After quite a while comes a song where the instrumental music does not overwhelm the vocalists.

Now on to the not-so-good part. The same song, "Thoda sa pyar hua hai" also proves how the once-reliable Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan have declined as singers. They have become more prolific but compromised on their diction and pronounication. At one time both were sure of their ps and qs. Not so any more. This song, beautiful as it is otherwise, will be noted by connoisseurs for faulty pronounciation of both the singers. Which is a pity considering both actually are well-versed with heir job.
