It's celebrations galore

Chennai's eating joints have lined up special menus and interesting events to celebrate Christmas and New Year. A round-up of the exciting plans.

Bringing joy and cheer... Santa Claus at The Residency.

It's that time of the year when bells jingle, carols are sung, Santa Claus arrives at your doorstep with a whole lot of goodies and gifts, and yet another year dawns. A carnival-like atmosphere envelops the city, as it prepares itself for Christmas and New Year. Special mouth-watering menus at restaurants, discount sales at retail outlets, new restaurants opening shop...

To usher in the New Year in style, Mowbrays Inn (TTK Road, Ph: 4970555/4982305) has a whole lot of interesting events lined up. Couple can dine and dance by paying Rs 2,000, while youngsters can shake a leg or two to some live instrumental music (Rs 750 per head). `Barbeque under the Stars'... that is a poolside dinner buffet with a romantic touch on December 24 (Rs 250 plus tax)! Well, that's part of the Radisson GRT's plans to celebrate the festive spirit. That's not all. Not just that, he will conduct an informal quiz contest for kids and of course give away gifts. There will also be a special tent card from December 24 to 30 where these delicacies will be available a la carte.

A mouth-watering menu at Paradise.

Meanwhile, Red-E Food Court has noble intentions. The eating joint will celebrate Christmas with the little sisters of the poor-home for the aged. And the buffet will feature cold roastturkey with cranberry sauce, soft chicken forestiere and scrumptious desserts... the yummy plum pudding with custard sauce and yule log. The buffet is available on Christmas eve (dinner) and Christmas day (lunch). Door delivery of the special menu is available through the Chetpet (Ph:8223622) and Alwarpet (Ph:4988554) outlets.
