Mittal will succeed
The article on Lakshmi Mittal made interesting reading. Mittal also deserves praise for the way he has consolidated his business empire, a feat so far unheard of in the Indian business community.

It seems that "Checkmated?" (Magazine, March 5 ) is pessimistic about Lakshmi Mittal's bid to take over Arcelor. After the bid announcement, the share prices of both companies have gone up and Arcelor's price rose from 28.21 to over 35 a share, an indication of shareholders' belief in Mittal. It is unfortunate that racism and Nationalism have shown their ugly heads. But, going by Mittal's past record he will finally clinch the deal.
