In control

AS chairperson of the Children's Film Society of India, she takes her job seriously when she says that she is determined to give off her best and make sure that children do finally get to see films that will enthral them. She also knows that it is an uphill task, as yet in this country, to get established actors to lend their presence for a good cause, but then Sai Paranjpye was never the kind to say die. Currently involved in making a film, which focuses on a group of children that takes up the challenge of environmental issues and finally has to deal with the mafia too, Paranjpye said, "Since it has all the masala required for an adventure film, I am sure "Chakachak" will do well. It is a 90 minute film filled with fun and adventure." Recalling her time when she made "Sparsh", she said that when "I met the director of the Blind School in Delhi he told me that what these children needed most was understanding. I wrote a play and then went on to write the script for `Sparsh' because I felt that a film would be more memorable and do greater justice to the cause." The rest, of course, was history and ever since this spunky little lady has not lost her touch.
