Sexual harassment: Tightrope walk to justice
The belief that sexual harassment is a case of `misinterpreted signals' is very strong. Often, the first thing a victim is asked is how long she has known the perpetrator, and why she took so long to come forward with the complaint. Her irresolution is used, or misused, to disbelieve her, and to doubt whether the incident happened, says RADHIKA CHOPRA, highlighting the key issue of response.
Issues
Rite of passage?
`Eve-teasing' in India is closely linked to the issue of masculinity and the masculine agenda. It would not be imprudent to say that in this country, the construct of masculinity is usually equated with patriarchy, says Dr. VIJAY NAGASWAMI, examining the psycho-dynamics of harassing women.

The leering gender divide
Most men and women tend to look at the issue of sexual harassment through the prism of a stereotyped, and often cliched, mosaic of reactions, writes LATA RAMASESHAN.

Statehood: Good for the media?
If one were to look at the core issues which affect the quality of life for the majority population in our newly formed States, it would be the environment in Uttaranchal, and issues of food security and employment in Jharkhand and Chattisgarh. SEVANTI NINAN analyses whether these are interesting subjects for journalists, in the conclusion of a two-part article.
