President K. R. Narayanan

Prime Minister A. B. Vajpayee.

WORLD leaders, politicians specially, get on with the task of writing soon after retirement. But here is a surprise, that too entirely Indian in context. Prime Minister A. B. Vajpayee as well as President K. R. Narayanan, will follow each other with the publication of their respective works late this month and early next year. Both due to be published by Penguin, Mr. Vajpayee concentrates on his literary forté — poetry, while the President is putting together a book on politics entitled The Making of Modern India. The Prime Minister's work 21 poems is a new set of his writings and the first to be translated into English. The president too is well known for his literary scores with a series of books already under his belt. Indian ambassador to Cyprus, Mr. Pavan K. Verma, equally erudite, is to translate the Prime Minister's poetry.
