Translation

KALKI'S immensely popular historical romance Ponniyin Selvan, set during the reign of the Cholas in the 10th Century and originally serialised in the 1950s in the Kalki magazine, became almost a cult work influencing at least two generations.

In 1999, the Kalki Krishnamurthy centenary year, Macmillan India undertook the translation, editing, illustration and publication of this five-volume work with funding from the MR. AR. Educational Society. The release of the second part of the fifth volume, titled The Pinnacle of Sacrifice in December 2002 marks the conclusion of the project.

Ponniyin Selvan: The Pinnacle of Sacrifice, Volume V, Part II, Kalki, translated by C.V. Karthik Narayan, illustrated by A.V. Ilango, Macmillan India, Rs. 250.
