    Urad dal, sugar moves down

    Chennai (PTI): Prices of urad dal and sugar moved down and gram dal edged up, while other commodities ruled steady in the wholesale foodgrains market here today.

    Urad dal moved down by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 4,500 against the previous rate of Rs 4,600. Sugar edged down by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 1,950 from Rs 2,000.

    Gram dal went up by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 3,000 from Rs 2,950.

    Thoor dal, moong dal, wheat, maida and sooji were traded at their previous rates.

    Following are today's rates (per quintal): Thoor dal Rs 4,750, urad dal Rs.4,500, moong dal Rs.4,600, gram dal Rs 3,000, sugar Rs.1,950, wheat Rs.1,550, maida (90 kgs) Rs 1,480 and sooji (90 kgs) Rs.1,600.
