Isa Guha gears up for battle against country of her origin
London (PTI): Her Kolkata roots notwithstanding, Isa Guha, the Bengali girl in British jersey, insists she would be at her hostile best when English eves take on their Indian counterparts in the forthcoming one-day cricket series starting here on Saturday.
Isa, whose parents migrated from Kolkata to England in the 1970s, is the vital cog in the English pace attack and the bustling medium pacer said she was cherishing the pospect of facing the players from the country of her origin, especially India captain Mithali Raj and pacer Jhulan Goswami.
"I am really looking forward to the upcoming series. I am interested to see how far India has come since we last played we have certainly moved on and they are an equally strong side," said 23-year-old pacer.
"We have just got to be going out there and win every game of cricket in preparation for the World Cup and obviously we want to keep putting in good performances," she said.
Charlotte Edwards will lead the English side and Isa is relishing the challenge of taking on two of the best players in the women's game - leading batter Mithali and 2007 ICC Women's Player of the Year, Jhulan.
