Vasantha Krishnan and Lalita Anand presented a concert of compositions by composers from Karnataka and others at the IIC. They were accompanied by R.S. Krishnan (violin) and K.N. Padmanabhan (mridangam). And on the occasion of the 10th Barsi of Guru Pandit Amarnath, IIC featured vocal recitals by Mahendra Toke and Gajendra Baxi earlier this week.
To mark International Women's Day the IIC hosted a three-day Asian Women's Festival featuring films by Asian women film makers. The festival showcased the best of documentaries created by women from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Taiwan and Malaysia.
Vanbandhu Parishad presented Sekhar Sen's solo musical drama "Kabir" at the Siri Fort auditorium this past Sunday.

The Thyagaraja Music and Dance festival at A.P. Bhavan vocal recitals by Gayatri Venkataraghavan, S. Sowyma, O.S. Arun and Sudha Raghunathan among others.
As winter edges away from Delhi, the month of January tends to stretch on, as the legendary music composer Tyagaraja, who took samadhi during that month, is remembered in events across the city. Recently it was the turn of the South Indian Sangam, which along with the Sri Ganesh Sewa Samaj of Mayur Vihar Phase II organised the Thyaga Brahma Aradhana and Trinity Sangeetha Mahotsavam at the Ganesh temple premises. Local celebrities like P.B. Kannan, Ananthalakshmi Balasubramaniam, M.G. Swaminathan, Vasantha Sundaram, Radha Venkatachalam featured in the four-day festival. Besides, the organisers left the daytime hours of the festival open to budding talents who volunteered to exhibit their skills. This is a significant part of training and general education.
