STARGAZING

Celebrate, all ye Chiru fans

Chiranjeevi's fans have many reasons to rejoice: recently, the megastar celebrated his birthday in a star-studded affair; and now he is doing a movie being produced by C. Aswini Dutt under Vyjayanthi banner. It is well known that Chiru is a staunch devotee of Lord Hanuman, and hence doesn't let go of a chance to prove his devotion on screen too. So the film directed by K. Vijayabhaskar is titled Jai Chiranjeeva. He also has plans of doing a film in the direction of Murugadas, the original director of Tagore, for his brother Nagababu's Anjana Productions banner. Chiru apparently asked the Paruchuri Brothers to pen a story with patriotism as the backdrop, besides accepting a film by M.S. Raju to be directed by Gunasekhar.

Kolkota background

Lakshmi, being directed by V.V. Vinayak, with Venkatesh, Nayanatara and Charmme in the lead, was launched on August 24. The film will have Kolkota as its backdrop and Ramana Gogula is providing tunes for the film. Produced by Nallamalupu Srinvas (Bujji), the film has the storyline by Akula Siva. Since Choodalani Vundi with its picturesque shots of Kolkata went on to become a major hit, can we expect similar fate for this film? Wait and watch.

NTR and Surender team up

Young and dynamic director Surender, who gave a runaway hit like Athanokkade for Kalyanram, is all set to direct NTR for his latest flick to be produced by Valluripalli Ramesh. The film is most likely to go to sets on August 27 and Sameera Reddy has been selected to play the female lead. Ashok is the tentative title selected for the film.

Just three characters?

Though not an experimental film, Mogudu, Pellam, O Dongodu being produced by Vakada Anjan Kumar on the banner of Sri Ramalayam, directed by Venky of Kabaddi Kabaddi fame, with just three characters — including hero Raja of Anand fame, Shriya and Brahmanandam — is slated for release on September 7. Director Venky moulded the film well, feels presenter Vakada Apparao. Kabuli is being introduced as music director. The film is being touted as a clean entertainer for the entire family.
