Short and sweet

Palme D'Or winners and Oscar nominees comprise Short Cuts screenings this month

DIFFERENT ANGLE A scene from R.P. Patnaik's `22 minutes.'

Short Cuts in its fifth edition of the monthly mini-festival screenings brings three critically acclaimed short films to film lovers on Sunday, August 14, at 7 p.m. at Prasad Lab's Preview Theatre.

Wayfarers is a ten-minute documentary directed by Igor Strembitskyy. The first Ukrainian film to be chosen to the Official Selection of the Festival de Cannes it also won the Palme D'Or at Cannes this year.

Taika Waititi's Two Cars One Night is the story of two boys and a girl who meet in the car park of a rural pub. What at first seems to be a relationship based on rivalry soon develops into a close friendship. It's also about how love can be found in the most unlikely of places. The film was nominated for an Oscar and won prestigious awards at the Berlin Film Festival and the Hamburg Short Film Festival to mention a few.

As part of Short Cuts' efforts to promote filmmakers from Hyderabad and give them a platform to showcase their short films, R.P. Patnaik's 22 Minutes is being screened. A sought-after music director in the South, the movie marks his directorial debut and is about the state of mind of three people inside a house while outside there is pandemonium following the murder of a prominent politician.

The screenings are exclusively for invitees only. For invitations contact 040-30603311 or email: pasha@shortcuts.in
