A sojourn with Sivaji Ganesan

The legend in Gauravam.

Bharat Kalachar, in association with Piriyamana Thozhi will remember Sivaji Ganesan, the legend, on July 21 (the day marks the fourth death anniversary of the actor) and 22. Titled Sivaji Ninaivanjali, the programmes include a private screening of two of the thespian's films — `Paritshaikku Naeramaachu' (July 21) also starring Y. Gee. Mahendra, Sujatha, Poornima Jayaram, `Vennira Adai' Moorthy and Manorama, and `Gauravam' with Pandari Bai, Nagesh and Usha Nandini (July 22) — at 6. 30 p.m., at the YGP Auditoium, Thirumalai Road, T. Nagar, has been organised. Sivaji Ganesan's son Ramkumar, `Vietnam Veedu' Sundaram and actors Srikanth and Sujatha will be honoured on the occasion. The films chosen are even more relevant because the two classics of Ganesan are based on plays produced by United Amateur Artistes. Ganesan plays the roles that YGP had portrayed on stage. Long time veterans will share their memories of the legend.
