Samudra directs Sumanth


Sumanth is playing the lead in a film to be directed by Samudra. Therecording began at RP Studio recently. The film will be an action-packed love story. Ghatikachalam penned the story while Kamalakar is giving the musical score. Srihari is playing a key role in the film. R.S. Movie productions, which produced Subbu with NTR is producing the film.

Balakrishna goes scholastic

Veteran artiste Dhulipala founded a Veda Pathasala in Guntur, with help from Balakrishna and director B. Gopal. Balakrishna inaugurated the school recently. The reclusive star attended the function out of deference towards Dhulipala and his noble intention. After inaugurating the school, Balakrishna prayed at the nearby Hanuman temple, which Dhulipala constructed.

`Jagapathi' to hit screens


Jagapathi directed by Jonnalagadda Srinivas and produced by Arjuna Raju with Jagapathibabu and Rakshita in the lead is all set for release in the second week of June. The shooting was completed recently and post-production work is in progress now. Music, composed by Keeravani, has been well received. Jagapathibabu apparently did a few stunts himself.

V for victory


While Sankranthi fared very well at the box office, Subhash Chandra Bose was a bit of let down. Venkatesh has now placed his faith in V. V. Vinayak. Produced by Nallamalupu Srinivas (Bujji), story sessions are now on. Venkatesh as well as Vinayak are looking for a fresh subject and a new heroine is likely to play opposite Venkatesh. If everything goes well, the film will go on floors in the first week of July. Venkatesh is also planning a film simultaneously for his home banner Suresh Productions. Another film, Aata, to be produced by M.S. Raju was also in the offing, but has been postponed till the end of this year.

Comeback king


Noted artiste and producer Nagababu is all set to play hero again. He is playing the lead in Sirimalli, jointly produced Palli Kesava Rao and R.S. Rao. The film is being directed by Raj Kumar, who introduced Chiranjeevi to tinsel town with Punaadiraallu three decades ago. The film would be shot in Rajahmundry, Kadiyam, Mahbubnagar and Hyderabad.
