Now comes Surya's sibling

Karthi

Surya's brother and Sivakumar's younger son Karthi is all set to storm the cinema scene with K. E. Gnanavel's Studio Green production, `Paruththi Veeran.' Director Ameer who showed much promise in `Ram,' will launch Karthi in this village oriented story. Why Surya's brother all of a sudden? When you last heard, the young man was working as an assistant to Mani Ratnam ... "It wasn't a sudden decision. I have been watching Karthi working under Mani Ratnam. And I felt he would suit the subject I had in mind," says director Ameer. The heroine could be a known face or a debutant. Cinematographer Ramji who did excellent work in `Ram,' joins Ameer again. But why a name like `Paruththi Veeran?' "It's the name of a guardian deity in a village, near Madurai ... the place where the story is set," Ameer informs.
