A bunch of entertainers



"Aiya" ... another dual role for Sarath

AS MANY as six Tamil films are being released today, special day for Tamils. Kavithalaya's "Aiya," Supergood films "Thiruppachi," Mars Entertainment Group "Aayudham," Roja Combines's "Devadhaiyai Kandaen," K. R. Infotainment Pvt. Ltd. "Dancer," and a dubbed film featuring Arjun will provide entertainment for the eager fans of stars.

In Kavithalaya's "Aiyya" Sarath Kumar is doing a duel role with Lakshmi (Kalyani) as the pair for the older Sarath Kumar, Aiyadurai, whose name happens to be the title.

Aiya's only son is the younger Sarath Kumar (Chelladurai). His ladylove is Nayanathara whose father is Napolean (Madasamy) and his pair is Rohini.

Aiya is in control of the 10 towns and all the villages in Thenkasi, maintaining peace and harmony in his constituency. How this peace is shattered by villain Prakash Raj and his henchmen is the main story. And of course Aiya leaves no stone unturned to restore happiness to his people.

His refrain is, "We can only say one must not do wrong. But it is only God who can give him the punishment." Producer Pushpa Kandasamy is confident that she has a hit film in her hand. Director Hari is happy that the censors have given the film `U' certificate.

Charlie, Raj Kapoor, G. Srinivasan, Periyar Dasan, Kavitha, Kanthimathi, Sindhu and Malavika are the others in the cast. Music is scored by Bharadhwaj, camera is handled by Priyan, lyrics are written by Pa. Vijay, Na. Muthu Kumar and Snehan and editing is done by V. T. Vijayan. Story, screenplay, dialogue and direction are by Hari.

Super Good Films' "Thiruppachi" is the typical Vijay film with family sentiment, comedy and action.

"Autograph" Mallika is his sister. Vijay comes to Chennai to see his friend off to Dubai. He stays in Saligramam, in the colony where Trisha resides. On the first meeting itself she likes him. So she goes and speaks to him.



"Devadhayai Kandaen" ... a tea vendor's romance

She is attracted to him but on learning that she is the daughter of wealthy parents, he avoids her. Mallika, Kotta Srinivasa Rao, Livingston, Vaiyapuri, Pasupathy, Yugendran, `Sankarabaranam' Rajalakshmi are the other main performers.

Camera-S. Saravanan, music-Dina, Art-Dinakar, Stunt-`Rakki' Rajesh, editing-V. Jaishanker, joint producer-Suresh Chowdhary and producer R. B. Chowdhary. Story, screenplay, dialogue and direction are by Perarasu.

Dhanush is a tea vendor. How his love blossoms with the college going girl Sridevi is told in ``Devadhaiyai Kandaen" with box office ingredients. Director Boopathi Pandian is a picture of optimism. "I am sure this film will be a hit as I have given all the entertainment values in a neatly written screenplay. It has beautiful songs, good action scenes and also a message-oriented story," he says.

Priyanka Art Production "Iyer I.P.S." is the maiden venture of television serial director `Mangai' Harirajan. Satyaraj is doing a dual role in the film — one is an honest police officer and other is a dada. The director says it has a gripping climax. The cast comprises Satyaraj, Sanghavi, Meha, Anandaraj, Satyapriya, Anu Mohan, Pandu, O.A.K. Sundar, Babilona, Junior Silk, Ragasudha and Narayana Rao. B. Kannan has handled the camera; music is by Dhina and V. T. Vijayan has done the editing. Stunts are by Prakash. Story, screenplay, dialogue and direction are by P. Harirajan, who has also produced the film.

Another film, which is coming to the screen, is Seven Horse Films' "Jathi". The story is about two young people who love each other. One fine day she gets involved in a case, which makes the families of the two get agitated. How the problems are solved is shown with new faces along with old ones. The hero is Satya and the heroine is Sujitha. They act with Seetha, `Nizhalgal' Ravi, Ambika, Rajeev, Abinayasree, Lekhasri, Azhagu and Ajay Rathnam. Music has been scored by Kalaivani, editing has bee done by Ashok Mehta, stunts have been choreographed by `Dalapathi' Dinesh, and story and dialogue are by Srivenkar. "Jathi" has been produced by Chitrai Selvan who is also the film's cinematographer. Screenplay and direction are by Vijayaraghava.
