Another step forward

Arjun and Reema Sen in "Giri".

FROM RAJNIKANTH and Kamal Hassan to Karthik and Vijay there are very few heroes with whom director Sundar C. has not worked. Now he teams up with Arjun for the first time in his home production, "Giri." Sundar C.'s wife actress Khushboo is the producer. But Arjun is not much in demand these days, you thought. "That's not true ... Arjun's films have a solid market in Kerala, Andhra and Karnataka, besides Tamil Nadu. So dubbing his films is always a viable proposition," says a unit member. Arjun and Reema Sen will be the lead pair of "Giri" — their first film together. Ramya, the heroine of "Kuththu," is also part of the cast. Prakash Raj and Devyani have been roped in for character roles.

For the first time the action king's stunts and Sundar C.'s comedy will come together to provide ample entertainment for viewers, you are told. Arjun tries his hand at comedy with Vadivelu in tow in "Giri". As the film has no suitable role for her, Khushboo will stop with being producer.

The unit has already completed 20 days of shooting in places in and around Kumbakonam. And the next schedule to be filmed in Chennai will begin on June 1. The makers have planned an August 15 release for "Giri" to coincide with Arjun's birthday.
