Spectacular visuals

THIS DISASTER film from Roland Emmerich is rooted in real concerns about the state of the Earth. In "The Day After Tomorrow" the enemy is a devastating force: Nature.

Global warming is the question that haunts climatologist Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid). His research indicates that this could trigger a catastrophic shift in the planet's climate. He has evidence that it has happened before 10,000 years ago. But his warning to officials comes too late.

The spectacular visuals run the gamut from hailstorms in Tokyo, hurricanes in Hawaii to tornadoes in Los Angeles and a snowy street scene in New Delhi. Amidst the special effects is the human drama. It is a tale of Man's struggle against Nature where ultimately the human spirit triumphs. Jake Gyllenhaal, Ian Holm and Sela Ward co-star.
