Good vs. evil

WORLD WAR II engulfs the globe in turmoil and destruction. At that time Hellboy (Ron Perlman) is brought to Earth by evil madman Grigori Rasputin (Karel Roden) to perpetrate evil. Written and directed by Guillermo del Toro, this supernatural, action-adventure, "Hellboy," is based on Mike Mignola's Dark Horse comic series of the same name.Hellboy is rescued by Allied Forces led by Professor Broom (John Hurt). Broom is the founder of the clandestine B.P.R.D (Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defence). He raises Hellboy like a son and develops his extraordinary powers.

Despite his dark origins, Hellboy becomes a champion of good. At B.P.R.D. his colleagues include the telepathic `Mer-Man,' Abe Sapien (Doug Jones) and the pyro-kinetic Liz Sherman (Selma Blair).

They stand as a key line of defence against Rasputin — who seeks to reclaim Hellboy and use his power to bring about Armageddon.
