A rare feat

TO CELEBRATE the completion of 55 years of Kalanilayam, a festival of the troupe's plays was organised recently by Kalanilayam and the Nataka Academy at the Narada Gana Sabha. On November 4, the founder of Kalanilayam, K.S. Nagarajan was felicitated for completing 65 years on stage.

Felicitations were offered by Nalli Kuppuswamy Chetty, R. Krishnaswamy, (secretary, Narada Gana Sabha), AVM Saravanan and R. Marimuthu (president, Nataka Academy).

A memento was presented to Nagarajan by Kamal Hassan at the programme compered by Raadhu.

K.S. Nagarajan has directed and acted in more than a hundred plays.

Among them are Marina's ``Vada Pazhaniyil Valimiki",``Thani Kudithanam", ``Oor Vambu", ``Kaal Kattu", Saavi's ``Washingtonil Thirumanam", T. Dorairaj's ``Ini Oru Vidhi Seyvom'' and ``Pillai Manam Pithu".

For the past few years, Kalanilayam has been successfully staging the plays of K.S.N. Sundar such as "Sonthamilla Bandhangal",``Nerukku Naer'' and ``Mr. Middle Class".
