French award for Mahasweta

KOLKATA DEC. 13. Noted litterateur and Magsaysay and Gyanpith awardee, Mahasweta Devi, will receive the top French decoration of the `Ófficier Des Arts et des Letters'. The Director of Alliance Francaise in the city, Nicolas Blasquez, said that Mahasweta Devi would be handed over the prestigious honour by the French Ambassador, Dominique Girrad, at a special ceremony here on December 17.
