Aziz Ahmed Khan calls on Manohar Joshi

NEW DELHI Nov. 3. The Pakistani High Commissioner to India, Aziz Ahmed Khan, today suggested that besides re-establishing rail and air links, India and Pakistan should resume their bilateral dialogue.

During a meeting with the Lok Sabha Speaker, Manohar Joshi, Mr. Khan stressed the need for people-to-people contacts between the two nations to bring peace to the region.

A press statement from the Lok Sabha Secretariat said Mr. Joshi apprised the High Commissioner of the initiatives taken by the Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, to improve bilateral relations. Both countries, the Speaker felt, wanted peace.

The statement said Mr. Khan, too, appreciated the initiatives taken by Mr. Vajpayee and felt that the recent steps taken by the two countries would bring peace to the region.
