The JD (U) president, Sharad Yadav and the Samata Party chief, George Fernandes, announced this here in the presence of the Samata Party leader and Railway Minister, Nitish Kumar. The merger will take their joint strength in the Lok Sabha to 18 MPs. Talks are on with other erstwhile Janata Dal splinter groups to unify before the general elections next year.
