PM to unveil portraits, statues in Parliament House

NEW DELHI
AUG. 20.
The Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, will unveil the portraits of six eminent personalities and statues of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and martyr Hemu Kalani in Parliament House tomorrow. The Government media will broadcast live the proceedings in the Central Hall for the portraits and Parliament House precincts for the two statues.
Among those whose portraits will be put up in Central House are the two poets from Bengal, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and Kazi Nazrul Islam, and freedom fighters Pattabhi Sitaramaiah, Baba Kharak Singh, K. M. Munshi and Master Tara Singh. As part of the unveiling ceremony of the statues of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and martyr Hemu Kalani, exhibitions titled, "Life and times of Maharaja Ranjit Singh'' and "Life and times of Shaheed Hemu Kalani'' would be held.
